I do still hate seeing stuff like folders and drawers I can’t interact with, but ultimately the level of detain has shown me that they are every bit of capable of producing a game that can offer a very immersive level of detail and interaction. Then I played Grounded and Grounded has really set me up to believe that they have the mindset to handle the survival and combat aspects of an RPG. Still, the fact that most items in Outer Worlds couldn’t be interacted with and were just set dressing had me concerned because this takes me right out of the immersion. On one hand I know they can knock character creation and lore out of the park because Pillars is awesome when it comes to creating RPG characters with real diversity including origins that impact game play. However, I had been afraid to hope because a lot of their adventure games didn’t really have the range of small details I like to see. I’d love to see this replaced by something of Obsidians.

It was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase on July 24, 2020, and is set to be released on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Game Pass, and Microsoft Windows. I play heavily modified Skyrim now for that itch. Avowed is an upcoming first-person fantasy role-playing video game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios. Still, I wasn’t sure if they would scratch my RPG itch. I’ve been a an Obsidian fan for a long time. Note: There are a lot of invisible barriers, which you cannot go through. This is just a fun 3D diorama inspired from the scene at the end of the Avowed trailer. The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the Obsidian Entertainment fantasy world created for their Pillars of Eternity series, as well as their upcoming. The company is known for award-winning franchises such as. Microsoft has already dropped a ton of money to acquire the studio, so it only follows that they'll do whats necessary to supplement Avowed development. Since Avowed is the product of Obsidian Entertainment, it is safe to say that there will be plenty of experienced individuals involved.
However, Avowed is probably in the earliest development stages, so there is not much to show yet.Īvowed is the large-scale RPG that fans were waiting for, and we can only hope Microsoft is throwing money at the team so they can create a truly unique experience. Always. Soon we shift to a first-person perspective that reveals a person wielding a sword in one hand, then what appears to be a spell being cast in the other. The trailer had a moody medieval flair with footage of an arrow engulfed in flames traversing a battlefield and cave. In a brief reveal during the Xbox Games Showcase, fans were treated to a cinematic trailer that showcased Avowed, the new title Obsidian Entertainment has been tinkering with.
